Since September 2009 based in my hometown of Dublin with the Department of Foreign Affairs, having worked on Asia-related issues since 1997, working first in the Irish Embassies in Tokyo (1997 to 2000) & Seoul (2000-2002) before returning back to Dublin as Deputy Director (Asia-Pacific) in the Bilateral Economic Relations Division in the Department of Foreign Affairs (2002-2004).
I returned to Asia in 2004 working in a regional role for the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources based at the Irish Embassy in Singapore.
In 2006 I was seconded to the Asia-Europe Foundation, an international organisation with 43 member countries in both regions with its HQ in Singapore.
I have always been involved with the GAA & continued that since first coming to Asia - together with a few stalwarts we set up the Asian County Board in 2006 & I serve as PRO. Recognising the potential of the GAA model, a few of us (Micheal Collins, Colin MacDonald, Moira Lynam & Paraic McGrath) got the first Asia Pacific Ireland Business Forum off the ground in 2007 with the help of Richard O' Brien, Ambassador of Ireland in Singapore, Michael Garvey of Enterprise Ireland & the Irish Business Association, Singapore.
